Project Thanksgiving 2013

Do YOU have a spare frozen turkey!?  Would you consider helping people who live in Cumberland, Atlantic, or Gloucester Counties in New Jersey?  Yes?  Well, you may want to consider giving that frozen bird a good home for the holiday.  Yes, Project Thanksgiving 2013 is about to commence anew.  The Annual Turkey Drive is happening THIS WEEKEND, November 23d, from 9:00 – 5:00 PM.  Drop Off Points will be collecting frozen turkeys, cash, and checks payable to the Salvation Army of the Food Bank of South Jersey at these locations:

All four ShopRite locations in Cumberland County

The Mullica Hill & Sewell ShopRite locations in Gloucester

The Venice Italian Eatery in Gloucester County

The Buena Municipal Building in Atlantic County

It’s Election Day: Go vote.  Participate in the process.  If you don’t then you have no room to complain and, let’s face it, that’s what the lion’s share of political discourse has devolved into anyway.  Make it legal.  Vote.

I met some members of the South Jersey Writer’s Group (http://www.meetup.com/South-Jersey-Writers/pages/Welcome_Visitors!/) and, I gotta tell you, it was an uplifting experience.  It was an honor to meet the souls that I did, to sit down & drink coffee with other writers.  [Note to self, become a member soon!]  They have a book out now called, “Tall Tales and Short Stories from South Jersey”.  I’m enjoying it thus far.  Consider showing them some love – you can find copies right here:

Project 365 is still underway.  I have been enjoying it far more than I suspected I would.  The idea is to take one photo a day and post it.  It is photojournalism on a personal level.  The benefit that I didn’t expect is the time travel.  Doing a Project 365 is not just taking snapshots of a picture; it also connects you to a certain place and time.  Here is a blog I wrote when I first dipped my toes in the water of Project 365: http://evilchickenscratch.blogspot.com/2012/12/project-365.html.  Not to boor you but here is my Project 365 on Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/theevilchicken/project-365/.

The Polar Bear Plunge - 2014!

Friends, Romans, Citizens of the Internet, lend me your ears.  I would be remiss not to tell you that I have just joined Team Frozen Rabbitz for the POLAR BEAR PLUNGE in Wildwood, NJ!  The festivities will be held on 1/18/14, right there at the Wildwood Convention Center.  Good People, I am seeking two things:

1. Sponsors who would be so kind as to fund this adventure (this is for the Special Olympics in the South Jersey area & our team is trying to raise over $2,000). 

2. TEAM MATES!  Oh yes.  That’s right.  I’m recruiting.  We have a wonderful Captain and I am proud to be on her crew.  We are seeking other curious and wayward adventurers who have a yearning to cross something CRAZY off of their bucket lists.  Gentle Reader, THIS is your chance!  If you are from the South Jersey area JOIN US – it will be groovy.
